JTVA Returns to Valley Center for the Performing Arts
JTVA returns to the Valley Center for the Performing Arts on the former campus of Holy Names University in Oakland for the 12th Annual JTVA Vocal Competition Weekend on July 19-20, 2025.
The first six JTVA Vocal Competitions, from 2014-2019, were held in the Valley Center for the Performing Arts at Holy Names University. As HNU ceased operation during the pandemic, JTVA temporarily relocated to San Francisco’s Wilsey Center for 2022 and 2023. Determined to return to our East Bay roots, JTVA originally scheduled the 2024 event at Cal State East Bay. However, the Valley Center has reopened under new ownership and they reached out with an inviting, if last minute, offer to return last year. We are so pleased to return again to the familiar stage of our long time home theater.
Applications open on YAPTracker this Friday, February 21, 2025. Historically, we receive an average of about 350 applications each year. Our judges narrow this list down to about 40 semi-finalists, then another panel chooses the final 10 who will go on to the Competition Weekend in Oakland for the Master Classes and Finals Concerts. It’s sure to be riveting, so you’ll not want to miss it!
